AIA Introduces Access Line of Digitization Equipment for Small Libraries and Cultural Institutions

Too many times we have heard local historical societies and libraries say “we can’t afford to digitize and disseminate our content.” Well, being inspired by a Nike commercial…“Just Do It,” AIA decided to put together kits that meet pragmatic standards for producing good, clear images for electronic dissemination and desktop publishing for institutions who feel that public and scholarly access are of greater priority than mathematical standards for archiving and preservation. In other words, Just Scan It!

AIAXact Access consists of four basic kits. Each kit is completely portable, extremely affordable, and designed for use by smaller libraries and cultural institutions where budgets are tight and the need is great. Each kit contains all the necessary equipment and instructions to scan books, documents, art, transparencies and 3D objects. In other words, a complete digital imaging lab in a box (okay, many boxes).

After spending years designing and equipping high-end imaging systems for the largest and most prestigious libraries and museums, AIA thought it was high time to bring the same functionality to meet the needs of smaller institutions on tighter budgets.

After a few months of testing, negotiating with manufacturers, and working out some logistical issues, AIA is proud to announce ACCESS 1, ACCESS 1A ACCESS 2, ACCESS 3, (we also cut costs by not spending time and money on developing cute names and skipping the fancy packaging). This is the first line of digital imaging equipment specifically designed to be affordable and practical for small libraries and cultural institutions.
