Fast, entry-level, easy-to-use book scanner for access using existing or separately purchased DSL.
System Design
Modular system that can be easily upgraded built around a "Pro"-DSLR (21.1) effective MP; can be operated by staff or work-study students with minimal training. Primary function is for access to content via Web when OCR is not required, or via desktop ink jet or laser printers for affordable archival raw originals.

High quality grayscale only. Electronic dissemination, desktop printer access, lithographic reproduction.
System Design
Workstation uses a heavier, more sophisticated, motor driven, variable speed, remote controlled repro-copy stand and a professional Medium Format camera and digital back. These backs now range between 22 MP and 60 MP and are capable of capturing larger books with more resolution. However, all instant capture backs (1 shot) are susceptible to moiré patterns and use interpolation methods to produce color. System digitally mimics workflow of a traditional microfilm copy station AIAXact customized documentation allows system to be used by library staff or work-study students.
